At 1249 hours, the fire’s forward progression had been stopped by firefighters, according to Fire Officials with the Kittitas County Fire District 7.

The fire was last listed as a second alarm brush fire, located westbound I-90 on exit 93, which had caused a Level 2 evacuation of several residences on Sunlight Drive and including the Fruit Stand, which was at a level 3.

Firefighters with the Kittitas County fire agencies and Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WA DNR) are on the scene of a wildfire in the area of the Elk Heights Exit, which is off I-90 between Cle Elum and Ellensburg in Washington State.

The Incident Commander (IC) is Kittitas County-25/CH-11.

WA DNR fire personnel and resources were dispatched today at 1209 hours PDT. This is Incident #WASES-317.

Another brush fire ignited on June 25, 2025, off of I-90 and was quickly contained.

About 1.25 acres have been burned.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.
