TEXAS FERRY – SIEGEL FIRE UPDATES – JULY 2025
July 3, 2025, Thursday @ 1030 hours PDT
Fire Officials reported to the National Interagency Fire Center located in Boise, Idaho, this morning (0600 hours MDT) on fire conditions on this incident. They are referring to this wildfire as the SIEGEL FIRE.
According to the report, the fire is burning about 14 miles south of Cheney, Washington, in timber and brush. Overnight, the fire’s behavior was observed as active with running, torching, and spotting.
Numerous homes and structures are being threatened with evacuation orders still in effect for many areas.
About 400 acres have been burned, and firefighters have reached a 10% containment status. The date for full containment has been slated for July 15, 2025.
There are about 98 total personnel, along with one crew, three engines, and two helicopters. Resources are still showing attached to this include AR 27, BC 31, AR 7410, NC 7305, AR 7403, AR 7404, AR 7407, Fuels 1, E Zone 10, C 7340, and AR 35.
Cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $250,000.
July 2, 2025, Wednesday @ 2040 PT
Fire personnel and equipment were dispatched to the South Texas Ferry Road area for a wildfire. State resources were deployed (see below) at 1455 hours. Resources arrived on the scene at 1539 hours PDT.

EVACUATIONS ARE IN EFFECT
Level 3- North from Bonnie Lake to west Cheney Plaza Rd, East to South Wells Rd, South to Bafus Place, and West to Bonnie Lake.

Local fire resources with the SCFD3 responded to a smoke call on or near Bonnie Lake, a box canyon with limited road infrastructure with poor access. The fire was originally reported as a brush fire on W Cheney Plaza and South Texas Ferry Road at 1451 hours PDT. Fire crews were responding as of 1524 hours PDT. At 1611 hours, the fire had grown to 50 acres, and level 3 evacuation orders were immediately issued by the County Sheriff’s Office.
Size: 400 acres per wildcad.net. Some outlets and responding mutual aid are reporting at 450 acres. There is no containment status known at the time of this update.
Smoke can be seen from the town of Rosalia. THERE IS NO THREAT TO THE TOWN per the town’s PIO.
