ELECTRIC CITY — A newer wildfire named the BARKER CANYON FIRE is burning east of Barker Canyon Road NE, south of SR 174, and west of Grand Coulee in Douglas County.
Local Fire resources from Grand Coulee and Electric City VFDs were dispatched at 2340 hours last night to reports of a red glow near the airport, south of Electric City.

The DCFD3 discovered a small wildland wildfire burning about two miles off of SR 174 near the BPA power lines. Due to poor accessibility, they were finally able to make entry to the area where the fire was sized up to about thirty to forty acres.

Some local crews were released at 0500 hours on Sunday, with all Grand Coulee and Electric City VFD resources returned to their respective quarters at 0930 hours.

No structures were lost.
The cause has not been released and remains under investigation.
