INCIDENT SUMMARY: A wildfire broke out on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 1401 hours from a human-caused source about seven (7) miles south-southwest of Leadville and on the south side of Twin Lakes Reservoir in Colorado.

CURRENT STATUS: The wildfire is currently at 578 acres burning in timber (litter and understory) and heavy dead and down from trees from insect mortality. It has a 0% containment status. According to the National Fire Interagency Center in Boise, Idaho (NIFC), Fire Officials reported behavior is active with crowning and short crown runs.

INCIDENT COOPERATORS: USDA Forest Service.

COMMAND STAFF/PERSONNEL: There are about a total of 140 personnel under the leadership of Incident Command (IC) John Markalunas (ICT3) and with Logan Ballesteros (ICT3-Trainee) in Unified Command with the USDA Forest Service Pikke-San Isabel National Forest and Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands. There are about five total crews with four (4) engines.

COST-TO-DATE: The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts have reached a whopping $1 Million Dollars as of today’s update.
