INCIDENT SUMMARY: A wildfire named the POST FIRE is burning off of Hard Luck Road in Gorman (Los Angeles County) near the Los Alamos Fire Station in the Angeles National Forest which started on Saturday just after 1356 hours as one poster stated on Social Media.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department states the fire started around 1347 hours PT.

FIRE OPERATIONS: During the beginning of the incident was said to be also burning close to I-5 and Smokey Bear Road, forcing campers to be evacuated from the Hungry Valley OHV State Park.

CURRENT STATUS: At 1632 hours PT, the OES Intel 24, estimated the fire had burned about 2,013 acres. (Updated at 2020 PT/now 3,000+ acres per the Sheriff’s office). There is 0% containment status but from the looks of many posted images and video footage, appears to be an out-of-control firestorm.

EVACUATIONS: According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (Santa Clarita Station), there are no current evacuations as of 2018 PT for the Castaic area at the time of this update. (see below info)

FIRE WEATHER: “Long duration of strong NW-N winds expected across this wildfire through Monday morning. Winds will be strongest tonight (after 10 PM) and again Sun night, with gusts of 50-65 mph likely (strongest across mountain ridges). Minimum humidity values of 15-20% on Sun.” – NWS Los Angeles

“Low clouds finally cleared at the coast, and now instead we have a giant smoke plume from the growing wildfire near Gorman (far NW Los Angeles County). Smoke is heading toward El Mirage and may eventually make it toward Adelanto/Victorville.” – NWS San Diego
