FIRE CONDITIONS & WEATHER
Light to Medium Fuels. Temps in 70’s. Red Flag Warning ordered into Friday due to Santa Ana Winds. 1700+ acres burned. Steep slope conditions. 30% contained.
CAUSE
Piece of paper that caught fire from being thrown into a campfire. Fire began at approx 0555 in the vicinity of Glendora Mtn Rd & Colby Truck Trail in the San Gabriel Mtns.

0555 [Fire started] – Approximate time fire started.
0600 [5 mins into incident] – Fire crews deployed to vicinity of Glendora Mtn Rd & Colby Truck Trail. #Colby Fire in Glendora, CA.
0700 [1 hr] – The fire could be seen seven miles away in Covina.
0800 [2 hrs] – Mandatory evacuations in Glendora & surrounding cities: Azusa, Bradbury & Duarte were being executed. 125+ acres burned. Could be seen from Ponoma. Colleges & Schools cancelling classes.

1100 [5 hrs] – Azusa PD announces the cause of fire.
1245 [5.75 hrs] – CAL Fire Strike Team of Engines, 2 Air Tankers deployed.
1400 [8 hrs] – Red Cross sets up shelter for fire victims, evacuees at Glendora High. Needs: Bottled water, food for displaced & volunteers throughout the evening. Contact: ARC Rep Michael Duarte 818-400-3455 if local and would like to volunteer. Burning just NE of Los Angeles, CA.

2100 [13 hrs] – Firefighters fighting agressively on fire.
2130 [13.5 hrs] – Fire Command relocating to Santa Fe Dam Rec area at 15501 Arrow Hwy, Irwindale, CA.
2200 [14 hrs] – Flames facing Mtn Cove, about 15 minutes ago.
2230 [14.5 hrs] – 5 Cities Engine 68, Atascadero City Fire, SLO Fire and 2 Co Fire Engines on scene.
2235 [14.75 hrs] – US Forest Service Firefighters [approximately 300] nightshift continuing fireline construction in steep rugged terrain.
2240 [14.80 hrs] – Smoke reaches Coast. Officials warn residents to stay indoors.
