Grand Canyon National Park, AZ | A fire caused by lightning ignited the North Rim of the Canyon discovered on May 23, Friday.  This is in the same area as a previous fire from 15 years ago.

Currently, there are 3947 acres burned with a 30% containment.  Fire Managers are looking at another 30% containment fairly shortly.

There are 165 interagency fire partners on the fire ground including firefighters from Federal, State and  Local area, which breakdown to wildland fire modules, engine crews, hotshot crews, water tenders, aerial support and additional miscellaneous overhead.

The fire is burning Ponderosa Pine.
