#JuniperFire – Tonto NF (AZ) – May 25, 2016


Incident Summary

The Wildfire is located in the Sierra Ancha Wilderness of the Tonto National Forest in Phoenix AZ.

The cause of the fire is deemed to have started by a possible lightning strike but it was not witnessed. However, evidence leads Fire Managers to believe this is the potential ignition of the wildfire that was later reported on May 20, 2016.

IC: Andy Mandell, CWZ T3 IMT is the lead Fire Manager on this incident.  Assigned to this event are 267 personnel that representative the AZ Game and Fish Department, State Forestry, State DOT and the Gila County Sheriffs Office.

Ponderosa Pine and mixed Conifer are currently burning that are on rugged terrain and cliffs.
