#BeaverCreekFire (WY/CO) Growing Stronger Every Day – June 21, 2016

The #BeaverCreekFire is located on the Routt Nation Forest, which is N of Big Creek Lake Campgrounds; 3 miles S of the Colorado / Wyoming State lines and 20 miles NW of Walden, Colorado and in Twisty Park area between Beaver Creek and Rhea Creek.

As of 1830 hours, the Jackson County Sheriff Office stated everyone was out of the area due to no permanent residents.

The fire reportedly ignited on Sunday, June 19th about 12 midnight from an unknown cause.  It is considered as extremely heavy and extreme with heavy smoke.  Travel to the area is strongly discouraged.

The cause is still be investigated by Law Enforcement officials, which they believe they have a lead in the case and have located a vehicle of interest.  If you have tips regarding this fire, you are urged to call USFS Officer Hannah Nadeau at 307-343-2335.

About 785 acres of heavy timber and beetle kill have been consumed.

There is a 0% containment status reached.

Command

The fire is being managed by BLM IC Type 3 Michael St. Martin and USFS Trainee Ichiro Stewart.

Fire Mangers will direct the crew to continue with assessments of the fire, bucket drops, structure protection and completing a dozer line.

Personnel

Currently there are 50 personnel assigned but more are due to arrive in the following days.

The initial response included multiple engines, 3 helicopters and 2 bulldozers.  20 people were also assigned.
