Hello and Welcome to our Post about U.S. Wildfires.  We thought we could group them altogether but the various sources we were using delayed the info getting out to you, therefore trying to separate them.  Waaay too many wildfires, so here we again – grouping them together.

Here are a few fires to get you started!

ALASKA

#TetlinRiverFire – 2 miles SW of Tetlin.

Tok Area Forestry, DOF.  Timber, brush and short grass. Active fire behavior with group torching and short crown runs.

Numerous structures threatened. Trail and area closures in effect.

1098 ac., 0% contained, 227 personnel, 8 crews, 9 engines, 3 helicopters. $973K (CTD)

ARIZONA

#BrownFire – 55 miles SW of Tucson.

Southeast District, Arizona State Forestry. Chaparral and tall grass. Active fire behavior with wind-driven and uphill runs. Residences threatened.

8107 ac., 15% contained, 215 personnel, 7 crews, 11 engines, 2 helicopters, 1 structure lost. $325K (CTD).

#CedarFire – 10 miles S of Show Low.

Fort Apache Agency, BIA. IMT 1  / IC Pierson.  Timber and brush. Active fire behavior with group torching, short-range spotting, and crown runs.

Numerous structures threatened. Evacuations and road closures in effect

13,187 ac,  40% containment,  770 personnel,  21 crews,  37 engines,  7 helicopters.   $5.2M (CTD).

#QuemadoFire  – 13 miles NW of Springerville.

Northeast District, Arizona State Forestry.  Short grass. Minimal fire behavior.

2285 ac., 60% contained, 1 personnel, 0 crews, 0 engines, 0 helicopters. $210K (CTD).

#WildcatFire – 26 miles SE of Jacob Lake.

Kaibab NF. IMT 2 / IC Bales. Chaparral and short grass. Minimal fire behavior. Reduction in acreage due to more accurate mapping

1502 ac., 55% containment,  295 personnel,  7 crews,  3 engines, 4 helicopters. $1.9M (CTD)

CALIFORNIA

#ArroyoFire – E of Greenfield.

Start 6/17 @ 1647 hours. 70 ac. Monterey Co. Arroyo Seco Rd / Elm Ave.  CAL Fire – San Benito. 100% contained @ 6/20/2016 1805 hours.

#BorderFire – San Diego County.

Started 6/19 @ 1103 hours. 7500 acres. 5% contained. Off Highway 188 / Hwy 94 near Tecate. CALFire.

Evacs: Mandatory evacuations are in effect for the community of Potrero, Forest Gate, Star Ranch, Cowboy Ranch, Dog Patch, & Canyon City.

Shelter:  Los Coches Creek Middle School (9669 Dunbar Ln., El Cajon, CA 92021.

Structures Destroyed: 4 outbuildings.

Injuries: 3 Firefighters (1 minor).

#CamancheFire – S of Ione.

Start 6/17 @ 1454 hors. 210 acres, 95% contained. Off of Camanche Pkwy N / Coal Mine Rd.

#CoalFire – N of Oroville.

Started 6/20 @ 1630 hours.  112 acres. Butte Co. Off Coal Canyon Rd / Hwy 70.  CAL Fire- Butte Unit.  100% contained. 6/20/2016 1950 hours.

#FishFire – Angeles NF.

Started 6/20 @ 1120 hours. 3000 acres. 0% contained.  Night flying aircraft overnight.  Evacuations. Being managed by Angeles NF for #FishFire and #ReservoirFire.

Large animal evacuations  Hansen Dam Equestrian Center @ 11127 Orcas Avenue, Sylmar, CA.

#KingFire – San Benito County.

Start 6/17 @ 1430 hours. N of Hwy 198. E of Hwy 25. CAL Fire – San Benito – Monterey Unit. 100% contained. 6/20/2016 @ 1805.

Destroyed: 2 outbuildings, 2 residential structures.

#PonyFire – 15 miles SW of Happy Camp.

Klamath NF. IMT 2 / IC Young. Timber, heavy logging slash, and chaparral. Minimal fire behavior.

Structures threatened. Road, area, and trail closures in effect.

2855 ac., 60% contained, 453 personnel, 10 crews, 7 engines, 4 helicopters. $14.2M (CTD).

#ReservoirFire – Angeles NF.

Started 6/20 @ 1100 hours. 1500 acres. 0% contained. Being managed by #FishFire IC.

#SherpaFire – 19 miles NW of Santa Barbara.

Los Padres NF. IMT 1 / IC Opliger..  Chaparral and tall grass. Moderate fire behavior with isolated torching and flanking.

Numerous residences threatened. Evacuations, road, area and trail closures in effect.

7,893 ac. 62% contained, 1926 personnel, 57 crews, 129 engines, 18 helicopters, 1 structure lost. $7.3M (CTD)

COLORADO

#TA27Fire – 17 miles S of Colorado Springs on Fort Carson Army Base.

Fort Carson Army Base, DOD.  Short grass. No new information.

644 ac., 95% contained, 62 personnel, 2 crews, 4 engines, 0 helicopters. $500K (CTD).

#PlumCanyonFire – 10 miles N of Villegreen.

Las Animas County.  Timber and short grass. Minimal fire behavior with single tree torching, creeping, and smoldering

1260 acres, 95% contained, 47 personnel, 1 crew, 2 engines, 1 helicopter. $25K (CTD)

MONTANA

#WallFire

Miles City Field Office, BLM. Started on private land 25 miles southwest of Ashland, MT. Timber. Extreme fire behavior with torching and running. Sage grouse habitat threatened.

1535 ac., 40% contained, 93 personnel, 3 crew, 13 engines, 2 helicopters. $120K (CTD).

 

NEW MEXICO

#DogHeadFire (NM) – 6 miles NW of Tajique

Cibola NF.  IMT 1 / IC Day.  Timber and medium logging slash. Minimal fire behavior with single tree torching, creeping, and smoldering.

Numerous structures threatened. Evacuations, road, area and trail closures in effect.

17,891 ac, 9% containment,  923 personnel,  22 crews, 68 engines, 5 helicopters,  45 structures lost.  $4.5M (cost-to-date or CTD).

#NorthFire – 25 miles SW of Magdalena.

Cibola NF.  Timber. Active fire behavior with group torching, isolated torching, and backing. Structures threatened. Road, trail and area closures in effect. Last report unless significant activity occurs

35,217 ac., 30% contained. 166 personnel, 3 crews, 5 engines, 1 helicopter. $2M (CTD)

UTAH

#AspenFire – 13 miles SW of Cedar City.

Dixie NF.  Timber, dormant brush, hardwood slash, and light logging slash. Minimal fire behavior with isolated torching, creeping, and smoldering. Road and trail closures in effect.

355 ac., 85% contained, 471 personnel, 19 crews, 5 engines, 3 helicopters. $1.8M (CTD)

#SaddleFire – 2 Miles S of Pine Valley.

Dixie NF. NIMO / IC Reinarz. Timber. Moderate fire behavior with isolated torching. Trail closures in effect.

318 ac. 0% contained, 205 personnel, 7 crews, 8 engines, 2 helicopters. $261K (CTD).

 

WYOMING

#DeerCreekFire – 25 Miles SW of Gillette.

Campbell County. Timber, brush, and tall grass. Active fire behavior with torching and running. Sage grouse habitat threatened.

800 acres. 80% contained, 81 personnel, 1 crew, 12 engines 1 helicopter.  $No CTD.

#ShortFire – 25 miles N of Recluse.

Buffalo Field Office, BLM.  Timber, brush, and tall grass. Active fire behavior with running and torching. Structures threatened.

2267 ac., 0% contained. 65 personnel, 1 crew, 13 engines, 2 helicopters. $100K (CTD.)
