Hello and Welcome to our Post about U.S. Wildfires.  We thought we could group them altogether but the various sources we were using delayed the info getting out to you, therefore trying to separate them.  Waaay too many wildfires, so here we again – grouping them together.

  • Southern California Area (PL3):  28 new fires, 3 new large incidents. 4 uncontained large fires. (CA)
  • Great Basin Area (PL2):  9 new fires.  2 uncontained fires. (UT)
  • Northern California Area (PL2):  11 new fires. 1 uncontained fires.
  • Rocky Mountain Area (PL2):  4 new fires. 3 new large incidents. 4 uncontained large fires. (WY, CO)

  • Northern Rockies Area (PL1):  5 new fires.  1 uncontained fire. (MT)

ALASKA

BIG MUD FIRE – 55 miles SW of Tanana.  NEW!

  • Area:  Tanana Zone. BLM.  Started on FWS land.
  • Fire Fuels: Dormant brush and hardwood litter.
  • Status: Min fire behavior.
  • Acres:  42,641 acres.
  • Containment:  0% .
  • Resources: 0.
  • Cost-to-Date: $59K

TETLIN FIRE – 2 miles SW of Tetlin.  

  • Area:   Tok Area Forestry. Dept of Forestry.
  • Fire Fuels:   Timber, brush and short grass.
  • Status:   Active fire behavior with isolated torching / creeping.  Numerous structures threatened.  Trail and area closures are in effect.
  • Acres:   1098.
  • Containment:  5%.  
  • Resources:   234 personnel. 8 crews. 9 engines. 3 helicopters.
  • Cost-to-Date:  $1.2 Million.

ARIZONA

BROWN FIRE – 55 miles SW of Tucson. 

  • Area:   Southeast District.  AZ State Forestry.
  • Fire Fuels:   Chaparral and tall grass.
  • Status:   Active fire behavior with uphill runs and backing.  1 structure lost.  Additional are under threat.
  • Acres:   15,240.
  • Containment:  30%.
  • Resources:  230 personnel, 7 crews, 11 engines, 4 helicopters.
  • Cost-to-Date:  $450,000.00.

CEDAR FIRE – 10 miles S of Show Low.

  • Area:   Fort Apache Agency, BIA.
  • Command:  IMT 1 / IC Pierson.
  • Fire Fuels:   Timber and brush.
  • Status:   Active fire behavior with group torching, short crown runs, backing.  Numerous structures are threatened.  Evacuations / road closures are in effect.
  • Acres:   26,739.
  • Containment:  20%.
  • Resources:   847 personnel, 22 crews, 45 engines, 7 choppers.
  • Cost-to-Date:  $5.9Million.

QUEMADO FIRE  – 13 miles NW of Springerville.  

  • Area:   NE District – AZ State Forestry.
  • Fire Fuels:   Short grass.
  • Status:   Minimal fire behavior.
  • Acres:   2285.
  • Containment:  100%.
  • Resources:  0.
  • Cost-to-Date:  $215,000.00.

WILDCAT FIRE – 26 miles SE of Jacob Lake. 

  • Area:   Kaibab National Forest
  • Command:  IMT 2 / IC Bales.
  • Fire Fuels:   Chaparral and short grass.
  • Status:   N/A.
  • Acres:   1502.
  • Containment:  70%.
  • Resources:  238 personnel, 5 crews, 3 engines, 1 helicopter.
  • Cost-to-Date:  $2.5Million.

CALIFORNIA

BORDER FIRE – 2 miles E of Potrero.  

  • Location: Off Hwy 188 / Hwy 94  near Tecate. CAL FIRE – Monte Vista Unit, San Diego County.
  • Started:  6/19/2016 @ 1103 Hours.
  • Fire Fuels:   Chaparral / dormant brush / tall grass.
  • Status:   Active fire with torching, short-range, spotting and uphill runs.
  • Acres:   15,240.
  • Containment:  30%
  • Resources:  230 personnel, 7 crews, 11 engines, 4 helicopters.
  • Destroyed Structures: 4 outbuildings.
  • Injuries:  3 Firefighters, including 1 minor.

SAN GABRIEL COMPLEX

FISH FIRE –  2 miles NE of Azusa.  

  • Area:   Angeles NF, Los Angeles County FD.
  • Start Day/Time:  6/20/2016 @ 1120 hours.
  • Fire Fuels:   Chaparral, brush and tall grass.
  • Status:   Extreme fire behavior with spotting and running.  Many structures are still being threatened.
  • Acres:   3000.
  • Containment:  0%.
  • Resources:    376 personnel, 11 crews, 50 engines, 12 helicopters.
  • Cost-to-Date:  $1 Million.

RESERVOIR FIRE  – 3 miles N of Azusa.  

  • Area:   Angeles NF, Los Angeles County FD.
  • Start Day/Time:  6/20/2016 @ 1100  hours.
  • Fire Fuels:   Chaparral, brush and tall grass.
  • Status:   Managed under San Gabriel Complex.
  • Acres:   1500.
  • Containment:  0%.
  • Resources:    N/A.

PONY FIRE  – 15 miles SW of Happy Camp.  

  • Area:   Klamath National Forest.
  • Fire Fuels:   Timber, heavy logging slash, chaparral.
  • Status:   Min fire behavior.  Structures threatened.  road / area / trail closures in effect.
  • Acres:   15,240.
  • Containment:  60%.
  • Resources:  453 personnel, 10 crews, 7 engines, 4 helicopters.
  • Cost-to-Date:  $14.2 Million

SHERPA FIRE  – 19 miles NW of Santa Barbara.  

  • Area:   Los Padres National Forest.
  • Fire Fuels:   Chaparral and tall grass.
