Fire Location

The Withers Fire is located on Lakeview District, BLM territory, approximately 1 mile north of Paisley, OR.

Fire Fuels

The Fire is burning in brush and short grass.

Current Conditions

Minimal fire behavior. Backing and creeping. It is currently at a 65% containment status.

Threats

Residences threatened.

Road Closures

  • Forest Road No. 33, also known as the River Road
  • From the junction with Forest Road No. 3315 (also known as the High Road) to Jones Crossing
  • Forest Road No. 3315 from the junction with Forest Road No. 33 to the intersection with Forest Road No. 3360 are closed.
  • Travelers must detour through Government Harvey Pass to access areas west and south of the fire zones.

Orders

Lifted Level 1 evacuation yesterday. Planning to transfer to the local unit on 8/23/16 (Tuesday).

Current Weather

Today will be the fifth day of temperatures in the 90s, 5-10 degrees higher than normal, with the potential for gusty winds in the afternoon. A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from noon to 9 p.m.

Fire danger remains extreme.
