UPDATE 2 – JULY 17, 2021 – SATURDAY
A wildfire named the BOOTLEG FIRE is burning about 23 miles east of Chiloquin and 11 miles northeast of the Town of Sprague River and 28 miles northeast of Klamath Falls on the Fremont-Winema National Forest in Oregon.

Current Fire Behavior ies extreme, crowning, running, spotting. Fire remains very active with significant acreage increases due to hot, dry, and breezy conditions, and plume-dominated fire behavior.
There has been 281,208 acres of timber, brush and closed timber litter. Crews have gained a 22% containment status.
The cause is unknown and under investigation. There has been 75 structures that have been destroyed.
It originally ignited on July 6th around 1342 hours PT.

There are 2,106 total personnel assigned along 44 crews, 195 engines and 14 helicopters.
The total cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment expenses have reached $15.8 Million Dollars.
