The National Interagency Fire Center or also known as the NIFC is based out of Boise, Idaho, and states there are twenty-three-plus wildfires burning in the State of Alaska. Since there are so many and they are showing unstaffed, we are lumping them into a single post.

ADAK FIRE
The ADAK FIRE started on FWS land, about nine miles north of Adak in Alaska DOF’s southwest area.
There have been 919 acres scorched and have a 0% containment status.
AGHUALUK MOUNTAIN FIRE
This wildfire is located 49 miles east of Aniak, Alaska has burned 94,953 acres, and remains with a 0% containment status. About 47 total personnel are assigned along with one crew.

CONTACT CREEK FIRE
The CONTACT CREEK FIRE located 40 miles southeast of King Salmon, Alaska has ultimately destroyed 10,321 acres of tundra, grass, and mixed fuels.
It started from an unknown cause on May 29th around midnight. Its fire behavior is minimal and should continue to decrease due to cooler temps and moisture.

DOOR CREEK FIRE
The DOOR CREEK FIRE is located on southwest area lands and fire officials have seen 184 acres of land consumed. There is a 0% containment status and this fire is currently unstaffed.

EAST FORK FIRE
The EAST FORK FIRE is located in BLM’s Galena Zone and is currently being managed by the AK Green Team, an Type 2 IMT. It started on FWS lands, about 25 miles northeast of St. Mary’s. At this time, 184,992 acres have been consumed.
There is a 0% containment status. About 213 total personnel along with six crews and two copters remain on the fire ground. The cause was due to lightning.

FORK CREEK FIRE
FORK CREEK FIRE is located on southwest area lands. It is currently unstaffed. About 550 acres have been destroyed. There’s a 0% containment status.

FOURTH OF JULY CREEK FIRE
This wildfire, like its counterparts, is in the southwest area and is unstaffed. There have been 24,018 acres burned and there’s a 0% containment status.

GAGARYAH RIVER FIRE
This BLM wildfire has had 17,479 acres scorched and remains at a 0% containment status.

HOG BUTTE FIRE
HOG BUTTE FIRE is located in BLM’s Tanana Zone. The fire started on BLM lands about 21 miles northwest of Telida, AK. There have been 12,853 acres of land burned. There is 20 total personnel assigned with one crew with other additional resources on the fire line.
CTD: $110,000
KIKNIK FIRE
KIKNIK FIRE has had 15,656 acres and has a 0% containment status. It is located 66 miles southwest of Lime Village, AK. No resources are assigned.
CTD: $3,000
PAULS CREEK FIRE
The PAULA CREEK FIRE is located 58 miles northeast of Egeglik in the southwest area of the AK DOF. This fire along with many is without a Type 1 or 2 IMT assigned. 10,056 acres have been burned. There is a 0% containment status.

PIKE CREEK FIRE
PINE CREEK FIRE has about eight personnel deployed on the fire line and has no crews, engines or copters working on this incident. It is 38 miles north of Igiugig, AK. Approximately, 25,967 acres have been consumed. There is a 0% containment status.

STONY RIVER FIRE
The STONY RIVER FIRE has burned 20,094 acres. There are no committed resources to this wildfire.

SUBMARINE CREEK FIRE
The SUBMARINE CREEK FIRE has 30 total personnel assigned to this incident, along with one crew. About 20,405 acres have been destroyed. There is a 0% containment status at this time. Twenty-four structures have been lost.

TATLAWIKSUK FIRE
The TATLAWIKSUK FIRE has seen 45,937 acres gobbled up by wildfire. There is a 0% containment status and there are no resources committed to this incident.

UPPER TALARIK FIRE
This wildfire is located about 41 miles south of McGrath, Alaska in the southwest area and has had 938 acres burned. The incident has no Type 1 or 2 IMT assigned and is being managed with a strategy other than full suppression. There’s a 0% containment status.
