Update 1 – Friday – June 17, 2022 – 2250 hours PT

The Pipeline Fire is located about six miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, which was reported by a nearby fire lookout on Sunday, June 12th around 1015 hours MST.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.

Today, the fire has scorched 26,297 acres of pine, grass, and brush. It has a 27% containment status.

Challenges to firefighters on the ground remain high as fire fuels are dry due to several years of extreme drought seasons. Some of the heavy load is from both live and dead fuels.

Fire behavior is active with single-tree torching, backing, and flanking. It is burning well within the Kachina Peaks Wilderness which has been lightly touched by wildfire activities in the past.

There is 751 total personnel assigned to this incident.

Command of this incident is being led by (IC) Tony DeMasters with the Great Basin Team 2, a Type 1 IMT. He is also managing the Haywire Fire.
