==== INCIDENT SUMMARY =====
The BIG RATTLESNAKE FIRE, Incident #OR-VAD-050186 is located about 11 miles southwest of Medical Springs and southeast of North Powder, Oregon, on private property.
This was caused by lightning on Sunday, July 31, 2022, after being discovered at 1730 hours PT.
==== FIRE OPERATIONS ====
Firefighters worked throughout the night to secure the perimeter. They will continue to mop up throughout the day and evening.
==== SIZE UP ====
The current size of the fire is 425 acres of tall grass and sagebrush, which has been destroyed. There is a 0% containment status at this time. No new fire growth on Monday morning.
According to the local Fire agency, Medical Springs Rural Fire Protection District, there were Level 1 and 2 evacuation orders issued for a few houses. The wind shifted and therefore saving homes from being damaged or destroyed by the fire.
