Incident Summary

Both fire resources and equipment with the Florida Forest Service and local fire agency, Martin County Fire Rescue to a wildfire that broke out in the 10,000 block of Red Wing Drive in Stuart around 1400 hours EDT (1300 PDT).

Station 22 crews were dispatched to a brush fire call and were greeted by a 30×30 blaze that spread into the wildland-urban interface occupied by a heavy fire load of brush nearby.

The fire quickly spread and increased up to 50-plus acres in a very short amount of time. Both agencies were said to be in assumed Unified Command along with the Florida Forest Service.

They are supporting the fire incident with three brush trucks, three engines and a ladder truck.

Structure protection is in effect for homes located on Hawkview Circle in the Foxwood neighborhood. There are no reported evacuations at this time.

No damage to homes has been reported, but there has been to power lines and electricity is out in many nearby areas, including to the nearby South Fork High School.

The fire is listed at 80 acres with an 80% containment status.

No cause has been released by Fire Officials.
