Two wildfires, Hat Rock Fire and Mount Hebron Fire saw multiple Task Forces deployed to both fires earlier this morning through the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office (similar to our WA State Mobe resources) on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

Both wildfires started in Umatilla County on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, and were ignited in perfectly ripe weather conditions under a RED FLAG WARNING due to high winds. The fire behavior went from active to extreme as the winds picked up the flames and spread fire rapidly.

Three Task Forces arrived on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, and took command of the incidents at 0700 hours PDT along with three additional Task Forces also arriving at the same time. The OSFM is working with the ODOF.

Hat Rock Fire Facts: 16,816 acres is now 100% contained. During the wildfire, about 243 structures which included 65 of them being residential structures were threatened. With tireless efforts, unwavering dedication, and putting everything into the wildfire, crews were successful with structure protection and saving all of the structures. There were no reports of damage or losses of structures and no injuries to first responders or citizens.

Mount Hebron Fire Facts: 370 acres were lost. 100% contained. Management of this wildfire was turned back over to local officials on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Today, all OSFM Task Forces have been released from these two wildfires and will be returned back to service to rest and be ready for their next deployment.
