SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

At 1138 hours on Tuesday, June 20th, a brush fire broke out near Black Wood Road and Old Min Road north of Live Oak Springs. It was reported as a three-to-five-acre fire with a moderate spread in grass and brush, named the Blackwood Fire.

After 1300 hours, an evacuation notification was issued by the Sheriff’s Office.

Almost three hours later, fire crews were successful in stopping the forward progression of the fire and holding it to 37 acres.

One outbuilding was destroyed and all of the orders were lifted, allowing residents to return to their residences.

Resources included Air Attack 330, OES Intel 24, Air Tankers 70, 71, 72, and 73 along with Copters 10, 11, 129, and HT95. Other members included fire personnel and equipment from CAL FIRE / San Diego County FD; San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and Office of Emergency Services.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.
