COAL MINE FIRE

The COAL MINE FIRE is a newly reported wildfire burning near the Chris Mountain Fire, about 18 miles south of Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Management of the fire is under Nevada Team 1.

Incident Cooperators include Nevada Team 1, Archuleta County, Chris Mountain Fire Info Page, Pagoa Fire Protection District, Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, and the Southern Ute India Tribe.

Fire behavior has been reported as minimal with smoldering and creeping.

Homes are still considered under threat.

This lightning-caused wildfire has burned approximately 286 acres of timber, litter, and brush, which ignited in Archuleta County. As of this morning, fire officials are reporting a 95% containment status.

There are still a total of 116 personnel along with four crews and one engine.

The total Cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $775,000.
