DID YOU KNOW?

According to CAL FIRE Officials, there have been a total of 467,859 emergency responses in 2023 with 6,375 of those wildfire incidents burning about 315,599 acres. One civilian was killed and there have been three fire fatalities and 65 structures impacted (18 damaged and 47 destroyed).

INCIDENT SUMMARY

Unified Command

— Unified Command continues to operate with the CAL FIRE Riverside Unit (CAL FIRE RRU), Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and the Riverside County Type 3 All Hazard IMT.

CURRENT STATUS

New Containment Status

— The Highland Fire has now reached a 60% containment status as of this evening after the fire burned through the area of Highland Road and Aguanga Ranchos Road in Auguanga (Riverside County), California.

Evacuations

— Orders remain in effect for those north of the Riverside/San Diego County line, east of Crosley Truck Trail, south of Cottonwood School Road, and west of Sorenson Road.

Shelters

— Hoomans: A local shelter still remains open at the Great Oak High School located at 32555 Deer Hollow Way in Temecula, California.

— Animals: An evacuation shelter for large and small animals remains open as well at the San Jacinto Animal Campus at 581 South Grand Avenue in San Jacinto, California.

Operational Period (Last Update)

— A minimal fire behavior was observed by night operations with no new fire growth and firefighters worked throughout the evening to address hot spots and any new address where the wind may have impacted them.

— Steep and rugged terrain continue to challenge resources but they have been able to take advantage of favorable weather conditions and increase the containment status.

RESOURCES

— Fire resources include 125 total engines, 14 water tenders, 12 dozers, 21 hand crews, and a total of 1,204 fire personnel.

— All aircraft have been released from the incident and will be recalled if needed.

— Incident Cooperators are those who represent various agencies across the State: California Highway Patrol, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California Department of Transportation, American Medical Response, California Conservation Corps, California Office of Emergency Services, Red Cross, Riverside County Emergency Management Department, Riverside County Animal Services, United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Southern California Edison, Anza Electric Co-op.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT, INJURIES

Damage Assessment

— About 2,4,87 acres have been destroyed along with 13 structures.

— Seven structures have been damaged and the number of those threatened has been reduced to 85.

Injuries

— An additional injury has occurred since our last update, bringing the total number to two firefighters. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

— No civilian injuries have been reported.

— Hwy 79 from Vail Lake to San Diego County line.

— Sage Road from Hwy 79 to Wilson Valley Road.

— Wilson Valley Road from Sage Road to Hwy 371.

— Hwy 371 from Hwy 79 to Wilson Valley Road.
