PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON — An unincorporated county will begin a Burn Ban beginning on June 1, 2024. This is in response to the 2023 wildfire season and they are trying to be proactive, not reactive should fires begin to ignite within the County.
Information below are the details, please read and heed all information listed.
Pierce County’s overall last census in 2022, there was a population of almost one million residents (918,993) according to multiple sources.
It is the second largest County (behind King County) in the State of Washington (USA) and the County sea in Tacoma and located about 24.8 miles away from Seattle.
According to Wikipedia, some really large-scale wildfires occurred in Fire Season 2022 with the Bolt Creek Fire, which burned in two Counties of King and Snohomish on September 10th. It burned a total of 14,820 acres and was said to be human-caused causing approximately 15 Million for fire suppression and containment costs.
Starting in June of 2024, Pierce County will not be taking any chances due to many high-valued assets, infrastructure, thousands of housing communities/apartment communities, and businesses alike.
