The PIONEER FIRE is located 10 miles southeast of Stehekin (Chelan County), Washington, which broke out on private land.

(L) Photo Description: Firefighters on July 2, 2024, backhauled hose from the contained edge of the fire along Lake Chelan. The hoses had to be cleaned to avoid the spread of invasive species. This is a heavy responsibility for multiple personnel.

Fire behavior is still considered moderate with flanking, backing, and creeping. At the time of this update, firefighters high in the skies and on the ground level are starting to make a big difference on the fire as they have now reached a 14% containment status. The fire has burned about 4,776 acres.

Structures are threatened.

Area, road, and trail closures are in effect.

There is a total of 581 fire personnel which is an increase of 44 within the last 24-hour operational period. Alongside, are 10 crews, two (2) engines, and seven (7) copters. The Lead Fire Agency is the WA Department of Natural Resources or short and known as WA DNR. Command of this wildfire is under a CIMT, the NW Team 7.

No structures have been reported as damaged or destroyed.

The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached a whopping 17.6 Million Dollars today.
