RILEY, OREGON — The FALLS FIRE is burning about 20 miles north of Riley and 26 miles northwest of Burns, Oregon.

It started on July 10, 2024, from an undetermined cause and was listed yesterday just shy of 1,000 acres at 957. Today, it has spread incredibly so fast.

Fire behavior has been observed as active with uphill runs, wind-driven runs, and spotting, threatening structures.

The is under the management of a CIMT, NW Team 8.

An estimated 4,500 acres of timber and grass have been burned and remain with a 0% containment status. The fire behavior is still being observed as active with wind-driven runs and spotting.

There are about 125 total personnel with three crews, six engines, and one copter. The Fire Base Camp is located at the Harney County Fairgrounds.
