Cougar Creek Fire

The COUGAR CREEK FIRE was sparked by an unknown source on July 15, 2024, and is burning 35 miles southeast of Dayton (Garfield County), and one mile west of Hwy 129 and Grand Ronde River intersection in Washington.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.

About 21,477 acres of grass and timber have been destroyed. It now has a 40% containment status.

The fire has damaged five structures and four have been reported as lost.

There is a total of 416 personnel along with six crews, three computers, and 31 engines, under management of a Complex Incident Management NW Tream 12, with IC Jeff Dimke, which was assumed on July 31, 2024, at 1900 hours PT.

The fire behavior is listed as active with uphill runs, flanking, and spotting.

The cost-to-date has reached 23.7 Million Dollars.
