Park Fire

August 30, 2024, Friday, 2145 Hours PT

The PARK FIRE was started by an arsonist on July 24, 2024, at 1452 hours PT, burning off Upper Park Road in Bidwell Park in Chico, California in Butte and Tehama Counties.

The fire is being managed by a USFS Southwest Area IMT 2 with Unified Command with CAL FIRE Butte Unit, CAL FIRE Tehama-Glenn Unit, and Lassen National Forest.

Fire behavior has been observed as having minimal activity and some heat and smoke being found. It is located inside the perimeter but not due to threaten the containment lines.

About 429,603 acres have been burned and have a 95% containment status.

There are 1,514 total personnel, three helicopters, 38 engines, 52 dozers, 94 water tenders, 26 crews, and 126 other assigned resources.

About 54 residential/commercial/other structures have been damaged, and 709 structures have been destroyed.

No injuries or fatalities to firefighters and civilians have been reported.

Incident Cooperators included in this wildfire are the following Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, California Conservation Corps, Bureau of Land Management, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Sierra Pacific Industries, Collins Pine Company, California Office of Emergency Services, California Department of Transportation, and Pacific Gas and Electric.
