SQF Lightning Complex (Fires)

The SQF Lightning Complex is burning east of Johnsdale in Tulare County, California, which started on July 13, 2024, around 1234 hours PT, from an unknown cause that is still under investigation.

The two wildfires are being managed by a CAIIMT 11 and under Unified Command with Sequoia National Forest and Kern County Fire Department.

Trout Fire | 23,822 acres and is 95% contained.

Long Fire | 9,204 acres and has a 97% containment status.

Evacuations: Tulare County has evacuation warnings and advisories in effect due to the Trout and Long Fires. The following zones are under an evacuation advisory: TLC-E250, TLC-E261-A, TLC-E261-B, TLC-E274-A, TLC-E274-B, and TLC-E297-A are in effect.

Crews will continue to patrol and monitor fire lines by air, as well as direct and indirect along the western flank of the fire. Fire objectives including suppression repair, and chipping slash from contingency work on private land is ongoing.

Shelter: Tehachapi Education Center located at 126 S. Snyder has been placed on standby status due to no residents currently staying at this location.

Animal Shelter: The rodeo grounds in Kernville (467 Scodie Ave., Kernville) is available for residents who need to move large animals or livestock. For more information, contact Orion, Kernville Chamber of Commerce, 661- 340-0026.
