Incident Summary

KLAMATH-LAKE DISTRICT, OREGON — The COPPERFIELD FIRE is burning about five miles southeast of Chiloquin (Klamatha County) off of Sprague River Road, prompting evacuations, and road/area closures.

Current Status

The fire has burned about 2,500 acres since this morning’s update and has a sustained 0% containment status.

A conflagration was declared on Sunday, sending Statewide resources (similar to Washington State’s state mobilization terminology).

Level 2 and 3 evacuations are in effect.

The cause has been ruled preliminary as undetermined and under investigation.

“The Copperfield Fire is located approximately 10 miles east of Train Mountain and has grown in size overnight. Smoke is visible and can be smelled throughout [Train Mountain RR Museum grounds].” – Train Mountain RR.
