Whisky Creek Fire

The WHISKY CREEK FIRE also known as the WHISKEY CREEK FIRE started from a human-caused source on July 20, 2024, which has burned about 2,092 acres of timber and brush.
Today, the fire has a 25% containment status and Officials have slated this incident to be fully contained by October 31, 2024.
With warmer and drier conditions yesterday, Fire Officials stated this created a small uptick in interior burning producing light smoke visible in the east fork of Herman Creek. Light suppression repair efforts by crews, as well as other activities including scattering woody debris, chipping, and constructing water bars without impacting the fire control lines.

A task force including hand crews, heavy equipment and personnel as well as three helicopters are delivering water bucket drops to a new fire start in the area of Knebai Campground. With a quick fire initial attack has stopped the progression of this new start and holding it at nine acres burned.
The Whisky Creek Fire is located about six miles southeast of Cascade Locks, Oregon.
There are 306 total personnel, three crews, four copters, and three engines.
The management of this incident is under Jeff Dimkey, IC, and Bob Shindelar – Deputy IC with the NW CIMT Team 12.
