Park Fire

The PARK FIRE was started by an arsonist, on July 24, 2024, around 1452 hours PT, off Upper Park Road in the Bidwell Park area in Chico, California.

The suspect was arrested and is currently in jail.

The management of the fire is under the USFS SW Area IMT 2 with agencies, CAL FIRE Butte Unit, CAL FIRE Tehama-Glenn Unit and the Lassen National Forest in Unified. There is currently a total of 141 personnel along with three engines. All other resources have been released.

Since the start of this wildfire, there has been 54 structures damaged which are residential, commercial and other types of buildings and 709 that have been reported as destroyed.

About 429,603 acres have been burned and a 99% containment status has been reached, as it has destroyed multiple acres of land, structures and businesses within two California counties: Butte, and Tehama.

The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has a whopping price tag of 350 Million Dollars.
