The VEIN FIRE started on October 12, 2024, is located about five (5) miles east of Sonoita (Santa Cruz County), Arizona, and continues to burn today.

The cause of the fire has been deemed as undetermined. Fire Officials are continuing to investigate.

The fire is currently at 1,291 acres and has an 80% containment status.

Crews today will continue to mop up along the fire’s edge check for any remaining hot spots, working to improve and secure line to make sure the fire stays within its footprint.

STAY OUT OF THE AREA.

Some fire resources on the fireline are reporting people shooting near suppression work. Officials want to remind that this is illegal on State Trust lands, very dangerous for fire resources, and a high probability of delayed fire suppression as responders have to deal with those who are causing these criminal acts.

There are a total of 70 personnel along with two (2) hand crews, seven (7) engines, and two (2) tenders from various fire agencies:

  • AZ Dept. Forestry and Fire Management
  • AZ Fire Info
