INCIDENT SUMMARY

The MOUNTAIN FIRE ignited on November 6, 2024, at 0851 hours PT and continues to burn well into November 10, 2024.

LOCATION

It is located on Balcom Canyon and Bradley Roads in Somis (Ventura County), California.

CAUSE

The cause is unknown and under investigation.

SIZE UP

The fire has burned many homes and thousands of acres, which is currently at 20,640 acres and with a 26% containment status.

Fire behavior has been observed as creeping and smoldering in steep rugged terrain, however, it is still threatening critical infrastructure, highways, and communities, according to Fire Officials.

COMMUNITY MEETING: 11/10/2024 @ 1800 HOURS PT

The MOUNTAIN FIRE Incident Management Team will be hosting a community meeting at 6pm Sun at: Ventura County Fire Station 54 located at 2160 Pickwick Drive in Camarillo, California.

There are currently 2,918 fire personnel along with 19 helicopters, 463 engines, 22 dozers, 41 water tenders, 52 crews, and 8 other assigned resources.

The above numbers do not include other community partners, volunteers, and paid employees.

Original Units – CAL FIRE BDU (mutual aid) assisting Ventura County FD on November 6, 2024, with 4 Strike Teams (10 engines, 4 hand crews and 4 Chief Officers) arrived on the scene at 2049 hours PT.

VC Animal Services

About 80 ducks were brought to the Camarillo Shelter (VCAS) on November 7th for safekeeping.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

Damage Assessment Teams are reporting the following damages and injuries:

  • Damaged: 46 structures (residential, commercial, and others)
  • Destroyed: 134 structures (same structure type as above)
  • Injuries: 6 (confirmed Fire personnel and civilians)
