Palisades Fire Update

California Fire Facts | There have been 19,300 total emergency responses which include 105 of them as wildfire incidents that have burned 40,300 acres and destroyed 12,300-plus structures resulting in 10 fatalities.

Incident Summary

The PALISADES FIRE ignited from an unknown cause on January 7, 2025, at 1030 hours in the morning, southeast of Palisades Drive in Pacific Palisades (Los Angeles County), California (USA). The fire started small but would spread at a critical rate due to hurricane-like force winds spreading to nearby communities and destroying everything in its path. Thousands of people have been evacuated and countless structures have been lost.

Two deaths have been reported with three injuries.

Cause

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. Because of this information, we are not speculating on what the cause could be like others are. This is reckless reporting and can a lot of legalities with misinformation is why we are only sticking with the facts from our vetted (verified) sources.

Command

Command of the fire is currently under a State IMT, the CAL FIRE Team 2. Multiple agencies are in Unified Command which includes, the CAL FIRE San Bernardino-Inyo-Mono Unit, LA County & City Fire Departments, and the LA Police Department (LAPD).

Resources Summary

There is a total of 4,720 personnel with 39 helicopters, 519 engines, 67 dozers, 62 water tenders, 88 crews, and 57 other assigned resources.

About 929 total damage inspections have been completed by the LA Fire Department and the CAL FIRE Damage Assessment Teams.
