Current Status: Per CAL FIRE Officials, “Fire activity continued overnight, burning in steep terrain with very low humidity and shifting winds. The fire continues to threaten homes, communities, and infrastructure, but air and ground resources are working day and night to ensure the safety of residents and property. Rain is expected over the fire area late tonight through Monday, lessening fire activity and helping firefighters increase containment.”

The fire has burned about 6,625 acres and it has a 10% containment status.

Fire behavior has been observed as moderate with uphill runs, wind-driven runs, and short-range spotting, while threatening the community of Chula Vista and infrastructure, prompting evacuation warnings and orders that are in effect.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.

The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached 1.7 Million Dollars.
