A massive and very destructive wildfire started on January 7, 2025, at 1030 hours PT that would violently spread across the densely populated communities located in Los Angeles County and ultimately destroy thousands of structures including homes, businesses, outbuildings, and much more.
Today, the Fire Service is close to containing the fire to showcase a 100% containment status but they know there is much more work to be completed, from putting out all of the fires and spot fires, ensuring none rekindle, helping with recovery efforts and damage assessments, to other assigned tasks.
Most mutual aid resources which had responded from our home state of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, Montana, Texas and others have completed their 14-day operational period and have arrived back at their respective agencies. Some have cycled out and remain in key roles and helping local fire agencies still working tirelessly.
The cause is still unknown and under investigation.
