SIT REP 2: April 5, 2026

INCIDENT SUMMARY

The SPRINGS FIRE was reported on April 3rd at 1059 hours PT in the 15900 block of Gilman Springs Road, east of Moreno Valley in Riverside County, California.

It is said to be in the Lake Perris area and north of San Jacinto, California. It was said to be listed between five and six acres, burning in light, flashy fuels, according to Fire Officials with the CAL FIRE / Riverside County FD via X (formerly Twitter).

INCIDENT COOPERATORS

  • CAL FIRE RIVERSIDE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT UNIT — (36) Engines, (2) Water Tenders, Air Tanker, (7) Hand Crews, (2) Helicopters, (2) Dozers, (7) Hand Crews, (10) Other Assigned Resources, and (260) total personnel.
  • CITY OF RIVERSIDE FD – 2 engines and one brush truck were dispatched as mutual aid on Friday, April 3, 2026. There were reports that the smoke from the fire was starting to impact their city on Friday, but there have been no reports of it completely threatening the area.
  • COLSON AVIATION — Tankers 131 and 132.

  • CORONA FD – Smoke from the fire has also been reported by the CFD. There is no threats to their city at this time.

Cause

The cause is still listed as unknown. CAL FIRE Investigators are still investigating this incident.

According to CAL FIRE, just before 0800 hours PT, the fire is currently holding at 4,176 acres with a 95% containment status.

Last night, evacuations were lifted, and residents were allowed to return home.

Some who are tracking wildfires, such as ourselves, have put it out there – “This kind of fire activity seen on the active incident is typically occurs in May and June, as well as later.”

April 3, 2026

An update earlier this morning from Fire Officials: “The fire is holding at 4,176 acres and was listed at 45% containment status. Crews and aircraft worked throughout the night cutting line, laying hose, and dropping water and retardant on the active fire perimeter. Hand Crews and Firefighters are continuing to work on building and constructing containment lines.”
