SIT REP 1: Tuesday, April 7, 2026 @ 2100 hours PT
CALAVERAS COUNTY, CA — A wildfire named the Swiss Fire is burning in the 6900 block of Swiss Ranch Road in Mountai Ranch.

The fire started on April 7th at 1628 hours PT. CAL FIRE Officials are actively investigating this incident and have not released a preliminary reason for this fire as of yet.
The Lead Agency for this incident is the CAL FIRE Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (CAL FIRE TCU). There is no IMT assigned to this incident.
Around 2030 hours PT this evening, the CAL FIRE PIO released a statement, “Firefighters have made good progress towards gaining containment.” They will provide another update on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Containment of this fire was stopped at 1835 hours and its rapid rate of spread was slowed down around 1738 hours PT. This occurred while resources were still pouring into the fire area while responding to the fire ground.
Resources assigned include (29) total personnel staffing, (7) engines, (1) dozer, and (3) water tenders. Additionally, there were (2) crews and (3) others assigned as overhead and/or as support.
About 28.7 acres were burned and is listed as being 50% contained at the time of this Sit Rep.
Another Sit Rep will be updated if there is more fire activity occurs, as the fire is not fully contained or put out at the time of this update.

This was a small brush fire around ten to fifteen acres, but it would slowly spread to other properties nearby.
Firefighters and Fire Officials quickly stopped the forward progression at the beginning of the call, saving additional destruction of the land from being scorched.
