INCIDENT  SUMMARY

Coconino NF Fire Managers are using a recent lightning-caused fire to allow fire to burn acres that will later benefit the landscaped and bring back a healthy environment for habitat and help aid in reducing out-of-control wildland fires., while reducing heavy fire fuels.

The ignition started on May 19, 2016, around 1815 Hours.

LOCATION

The Pivot Rock fire is located approximately 3.25 miles NE of the intersections of SR 87 and SR 260, on the Mogollon Rim Ranger District.  Fire Managers know this fire will grow in size as it moves over acres and though not a planned prescribed burn, they will allow it to move on its own. It will be a controlled and closely monitored  so it will not escape containment lines.

PERSONNEL

Currently, 25 firefighters are assigned to this incident as there is a low amount of acres burned.

A fuels crew, (2) Type 3 engines and (1) Type 6 engine are on the fire ground.

ACRES

Acres burned are currently at 49, but are expected to increase as fire crews are prepping to area for additional intentional burnouts operations to reach no more than 100 acres on Saturday evening.

The expected goal is to burn all heavy fire fuels, including dead and downed logs, topping out at 8,209 acres.
