JUNE 9, 2019 – SUNDAY – 1630 PDT
The SAND FIRE began on June 8th around 1450 hours PDT. The official cause has not been released yet via CAL FIRE, who is the lead fire agency.
It is located about seven miles NNW of Guinida and 92 miles NNE of San Francisco, California.
The fire has burned approximately 2,220 acres and south of Hwy 16, there’s an additional 1,020 acres. The total appears to be 3,240 acres. This was heard via scanner feed. CAL FIRE’s official presser states 2,220 acres total and 20% contained.
It appears the fire is holding inside the retardant line but they still have another 500 acres of control lines to be put into place. They are saying these will be mostly handlines and dozers will be tasked with half of that amount of acres.
Some air tankers are being returned back to their home base for load and hold.
There is a total of 500 fire personnel along with 38 engines, 4 fire crews, 4 helicopters, 5 dozers and 5 water tenders assigned to this incident as previously reported by CAL FIRE.
Evacuations are in effect for those on County Rd 41. CAL FIRE evacuation map https://yolo.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=ea03deb166f849a7acb9153779001c98
