INCIDENT SUMMARY

A wildfire was detected September 15th (Sunday) around 1100 hours PDT.  It is burning  on the Sheldon-Hart Mountain Wildlife Refuge on lands managed / owned by the Fish & Wildlife Services, about 19 miles northeast of Plush, Oregon.  It is also been reported near Lakeview, Oregon.

The cause has been stated to be lightning related ignition.

CURRENT STATUS

Fire behavior has been reported as active with creeping, torching and wind-driven runs. There has been over 15,000 acres destroyed.

There is no containment at this time.  However, estimated contained is expected on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

RESOURCES

There are 96 total personnel along with four hand crews, seven engines and one helicopter.  Vale Dispatch Center dispatched E3434 as an additional resource to the POKER FIRE on Sunday evening around 1736 hours PDT.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

Cost-to-date fire suppression and containment expenses have reached $250,000.
