Delta Lake Fire

Dense fuels make it challenging for crews to put in containment lines on the Delta Lake Fire

  • Located north of Delta Lake
  • About 19 miles east of Ely, Minnesota
  • Burning on private and National Forest System lands
  • Adjacent to Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness
  • Started July 7, 2021

  • Burning in dense blowdown
  • Firefighters had to make a line around fire through the fuels
  • Mop-up operations in effect
  • 65 acres
  • 10% containment reached
