TULARE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — A brush fire ignited just after 1800 hours PT off of Rd 136 and Ave 456, about three miles east of Orange Cove, California. The fire at the beginning of the incident was reported to have burned 50 acres and had a potential of up to 100 acres.
Three air tankers and one copter were dispatched at 1809 hours PT.
No structures were reported as being threatened. The fire behavior was observed as active and wind-driven.
Around 1833 hours PT, all air tankers were placed on hold at their base, and hand crews were placed back in service but one dozer and all engines continued with their fire response.
At 1847 hours PT, firefighters were able to stop the forward progression of the fire.
Orchards on three sides of the fire’s location were said to be closely monitored as considered assets being threatened but the fire has been stopped and crews are still working on the fire line.
No cause of the fire is known.
