Chelan County, Washington State’s Stayman Flats Fire is located on Stayman Flats Road and Highway 97A, near the Knapps Tunnel about five miles southwest of Chelan, which ignited on Monday, July 18, 2022, at approximately 1435 hours PT.

The original brush fire reached a second alarm fire response, which would later bring in local, county, and state resources quickly to the incident.

With the last update several hours ago, the fire has burned a minimum of 1,200 acres of grass and shrubs and has now reached a 30% containment status.

All Level 2 and 3 evacuation orders have now been reduced to Level 1 (Be Alert) notices. For those impacted by the fire and who need shelter, the American Red Cross is on stand-by and can be reached at 1-800-733-2767.

Fire behavior remains moderate with some future expected challenges including heat, wind, and terrain conditions.

Fire personnel will continue with a direct attack using ground and air resources and establish contingency and containment lines.

CTD: $385,000 for fire suppression and containment effort expenses.
