The CHALK MOUNTAIN FIRE is located 4.6 miles southwest of Glen Rose (Somervell County), Texas, which ignited from an unknown cause on Monday, July 18, 2022, at around 1515 hours.

The wildfire has consumed 6,746 acres of short grass, brush, and juniper. Resources have reached a 53% containment status.

There are a total of 309 personnel with 22 engines, five hand crews, 10 dozers, and one copter. They are under the direction of the Southern Area Blue, a Type-1 IMT. They assumed command on July 20, 2022.

About 16 structures have been reported as lost.

The total cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached $3.7 Million Dollars.

Fire weather is expected to continue to be hot and dry out even more throughout the week.

There are no current evacuation orders or closures in effect at the time of this update.
