Published Tuesday, August 30, 2022 – Update 1
WASHINGTON STATE — The Downs Lake Fire is located in the 28000 block of West Martin Road, which is north of Downs Lake and south of Cheney and Tyler.
The wildfire started just after 2000 hours this evening from an unknown cause, which is currently under investigation.
Fire assets and resources were dispatched from Spokane County Fire District 3 and Lincoln County shortly thereafter the initial discovery of the fire, which in turn prompted the following AR 25 AR 28 AR 7404 AR 7405 AR 7411 to be deployed from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WA DNR).
An initial reporting in the wildCAD.net system showing the State resources dispatched displayed a total of three acres burned around 2135 hours PT.
An update by the local FD, states the fire has increased and burned a total of 20 acres this evening.
There are no evacuations in effect at this time.
A fire watch is in effect at the time of this update.
