Both wildfires ignited from an unknown source on Monday, February 26, 2024.

SMOKEHOUSE CREEK FIRE

The Smokehouse Creek Fire has been burning for several weeks. The fire started on private land, about one mile north of Stinnett, Texas in grass and brush. As of today, it has burned 1,058,482 acres and has an 89% containment status with the observed minimal fire behavior and smoldering. This is the newly updated acreage as fire officials have been able to get more accurate mapping in order.

There are currently 17 people assigned along with five engines.

The total cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment costs have toppled to 5.8 Million Dollars.

WINDY DEUCE FIRE

The Windy Deuce Fire is also started on private land approximately six miles east of Masterson, Texas in grass and brush. It too, has a minimal fire behavior with smoldering being observed by Fire Officials.

Due to more accuracy, a reduction in acreage has been recorded and updated. The fire burned approximately 144,045 acres and has a 94% containment status.

There are 18 people assigned along with five engines.

The total cost-to-date has reached 4.1 Million Dollars.
