SIT REP 1: June 9, 2024, Sunday, 1720 hours PDT

A new brush fire started on June 9th around 1549 hours, designated as the KELLY FIRE.

The cause is said to be from a debris fire that extended into dry and a heavy fuel load, being picked up by winds and spreading very quickly. Firefighters had earlier been called to the address but not before the fire began to spread.

The fire is located in the 20600 block of Firewood Street in Mead Valley (Riverside County). Firefighters with the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department are the Lead Fire Agency and are working to contain and put the fire out. | Updated at 1634 hours. The forward progression has been stopped.

The estimated size is one-half acre.

Fire equipment and personnel will remain on the scene to put out any hot spots and make sure the fire area has been cooled before going back into service. This should be another 2-3 hours before their objectives have all been completed.
