A wildfire by the name of the KEYS DYKE FIRE which we are using the correct spelling of “Dyke” as “Dike” is burning in the 600 block of Keys Road near Sportsman State Park in Yakima (Yakima County), Washington.
Note: This is not the Keys Road fire incident that occurred on June 23, 2024, in the East Valley area.
Some (fire spotters) are reporting multiple callers and this fire is said to be near the dike. This fire occurred last night and it was stated the fire had jumped containment lines and multiple additional resources were called in.
This fire has burned over 25 acres.
Resources have been dispatched on Wednesday night at 2229 hours PT to the Keys Dyke in Yakima County, Washington. WA DNR is the lead Fire Agency and actively fighting the fire according to the Yakima Valley Emergency Management Agency.

1436: DNR is actively fighting the fire. No evacuation notices at this time.
1111: 911 has been advised that the Keys Road Fire will continue to burn for a couple days. Report any threats to life or property by calling 9-1-1. All info will be forwarded to the Fire Department to determine an appropriate response. – Suncomm 911 Communications Yakima.
0534: Fire off of Keys Road. Not threatening homes. Fire crews are on the scene.

About Yakima Sportsman State Park
This is a state-operated and public rec area, as well as, a campground in Yakima County, Washington. According to its Facebook page, it is a green and irrigated area in an otherwise desert region, encompassing the floodplain of the Yakima River.
Campers state this is an unusual combination of a City Park and RV Park.
It was created by the Yakima Sportsman’s Association in 1940 and has been a State Park since 1956.
Activities include camping, fishing, birdwatching, and horseshoes, along with hiking and other fun activities.
