Airplane Lake Fire

The AIRPLANE LAKE FIRE began on July 7, 2023, in Mt. Saul’s White River Drainage and near Leavenworth in gorgeous Chelan County, Washington.

The wildfire was sparked by lightning over the area from an early morning storm at 0556 hours that day. The fire would burn for months and scorch a total of 6,956 acres of timber litter and understory brush inside of the U.S. Forest Service’s Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

As it began to spread in the early wee hours, it would start to impact the northeast side of Mt. Saul in the White River drainage area of the Glacier Peak Wilderness area prompting evacuationsThis would include Level 1 (notifications only) of the Trail Timbers Camp as issued by the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office.
