The GOOSMUS FIRE started officially on September 25, 2024, at 1430 hours and would quickly spread along the US-Canadian border, about 3.8 miles SW of Danville and 4.7 miles NE of Curlew (Ferry County), Washington State. With high winds and a cold front passing through, the fire would quickly spread to heavy fire fuels.

On Friday, fire crews completed direct and indirect lines for approximately 90% of the wildfire. They were able to successfully complete burnout operations in multiple areas. Signs of visible smoke and fire activity occurred throughout the afternoon.

The fire was said to have caused trees to be weakened and become hazardous to crews along Hwy 21 and will be later removed. This was to be done due to the impending high winds due to hit the area.

Evacuation orders and notifications are in effect.
